MF Wine Single Vineyard Barossa Valley Syrah 2023 is made out of hand-picked grapes from a vineyard on Biscay soil. The vineyard is located in the subregion of Bethany, an area renowned for producing more elegant and perfumed wines.
It saw a wild yeast ferment in stainless steel with 20% being whole bunches. It was then racked off to oak for maturation. Only old French oak was used, as the wine's pristine aroma was something we wanted to keep. We used second and fifth fill Hogsheads and Puncheons for 18 months with lees stirring throughout.
Bottled in October 2024 the wine is super aromatic, with ripe black cherry, blackberry, and toasted cloves. The palate is juicy, vibrant, and approachable, full-bodied but elegant and made with restraint. Nectarine skin, dark cherry, and currants throughout. Grippy tannin in its youth that will soften and a long scented length with a lick of biscuit to finish it off.
Tasting Note:
The 2023 Single Vineyard Syrah on the nose has huge aromatics! Upon pouring it has a lovely vivid purple, vibrant and deep.
The aroma jumps out of the glass. Expressing ripe, pristine dark cherry, Christmas spice, nectarine skin, and fresh red plums.
The palate is textured and rich, similar to the 2022 but more layers and deeper flavours. Pure, complex and approachable. Youthful pristine ripe black cherry, spice, soft tannin and mouth-watering texture. The length has a lick of oak with a long-scented, complex finish
